Saw an interesting stat today on a factsheet PDF from The Dave Thomas Foundation. In 2010 26,000 youth aged out of foster care without being adopted! Seriously people (adults), what are we doing to the next generation? Click here for more info.

Foster Care - A Top 5 SPEAK Priority

Raising awareness about the challenges faced by youth in foster care and those that age out of the system will remain a top priority for SPEAK in 2013. There are thousands of hard working Child Welfare workers and dedicated foster parents around the country who are trying to make a difference in the lives of youth in foster care. Yet, many serious problems plague the system as the following article from Ohio relates.

It's official. The Thanksgiving Holiday filled with food, family and giving thanks to God for all His blessings throughout the year is now over. The count-down to Christmas begins today - less than 30 days and counting!! It is also time for the official launch of the Spare Change for Big Dreams Campaign which will run from November 29, 2012 to February 28, 2013. Funds to benefit SPEAK Programs and upcoming initiatives. Collect your spare change in clean jar or other container OR Pick-up a container decorated by one of our youth volunteers. Then, give your donation to a SPEAK board member or Campaign volunteer or drop it off at a designated SPEAK location.
